Originally built in 1909, it was the casino and dance hall of the Tahoe Vista Hotel. Its large dock was one of three stops for the celebrated Tahoe Steamer. In the early 1970s, it was converted into a restaurant, operating marina and guest suites. Completely remodeled in the 1980s, this boutique resort now contains the six suites, spacious iron breakwater dock to accommodate food service, a 30-mooring marina and fully-equipped restaurant and boathouse bar. All components have governmental entitlements for existing uses.


The property is 15 miles from Truckee, California, about 50 minutes from Reno, Nevada and 20 minutes from private plane Truckee Tahoe Airport. Shopping, dining, services, gaming and entertainment are within 10-to-40 minutes away.

The property is ideally located on the North Shore between the two main routes from Tahoe to I-80 (artery to San Francisco and Reno). It is situated in an area that has an upscale residential component as well as resort commercial elements. Grocery is located one mile away, casinos five miles away, and many restaurants and shops are close by. Most skiing facilities are within 30 minutes and include: Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows (25-30 minutes), Northstar (15 minutes), Incline (20 minutes), and Homewood (25 minutes). There is a great 9 hole course originally owned by Bing Crosby that is rated among the best 9-hole courses in the US located one mile away. Other public golf includes: Northstar (15 minutes), Squaw Creek (25 minutes), Incline Championship and Mountain Course (15 minutes) and approximately eight more within 30 minutes. The property contains a large steel pier that was built to Ocean specifications, acting as a water break for the property. The west side was renovated with exotic Ipe wood decks and seating, recessed lighting, bench areas and dedicated ladders. It also has padded iron bumpers along both interior and exterior portions of the pier providing maximum areas to moor watercraft. The East side of the pier is canopied and allows for approximately 80 seats for restaurant dining. There are six Suites built to condominium specifications. Not individually deeded, they are used and entitled as Transient Accommodation Units (TAUs). Each Suite has a different floorplan and is approximately 1000 square feet in size. All face the lake and have full views looking over the lake and mountains. Containing 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms (master with Jacuzzi tub), living room, full kitchen, fireplace, laundry and outside deck, they are fully furnished. Nightly rental includes daily maid service. Captain Jon’s Restaurant is one of the most well-known establishments on Lake Tahoe. In existence as a gourmet restaurant and bar since the late1970s, it was managed by one owner for 25+ years of continuous operation until 2005. Other various management operators have operated the restaurant since then until 2018. It is one of only seven lakefront restaurants that have boat access. There are approximately 120 seats in the main restaurant, with an additional 40 seats in the converted overwater Boathouse. Additional dining for 80 is available on the pier with the final 40 on the waterfront deck overlooking the marina. It is currently equipped turn-key including all kitchen equipment, tables, serving pieces, bar, etc. The ability to capture boaters and provide outside and inside dining on the waterfront is rare at Lake Tahoe, making the restaurant unique and scarce.
